Sara Takanashi won the Grand Prix in Almaty on Saturday ahead of Coline Mattel and Yurina Yamada.
Sara Takanashi won the first of two Grand Prix competitions, that are held in Almaty, Kazhakstan, this weekend. This is the third victory in a row for the Japanese who won already both competition in Nizhny Tagil, Russia, last weekend. On the HS106/K95 hill she jumped 102.0 and 105.5 meters today and so won by 14.5 points ahead of Coline Mattel from France, who showed jumps of 99.5 and 98.0 meters. Japan's Yurina Yamada took the third place with jumps of 98.0 and 100.5 meters. This is so far her best career result.
Slovenia's Eva Logar came fourth with a pair of jumps of 97.0 and 98.0 meters. Not only Yamada, also Finland's Julia Kykkänen was able to celebrate her best result so far. With jumps of 94.0 and 96.0 meters she came fifth today. Slovenia's Katja Pozun jumped twice 93.5 meters and so took the sixth place.
Bad luck had Italy's Elena Runggaldier. She was sixth after jumping 93.5 meters in the first round, but with an 87.0 meter jump in the second round she fell back to the 19th position.
Takanashi has now 425 points in the overall Grand Prix. As there is only one more competition to go, she is already fixed as winner of this series. Second ranked Mattel has 289 points and so no chance to catch her up. Third is Pozun with 206 points.
