Ursa Bogataj won Saturday’s FIS Grand Prix competition at the olympic hill in Courchevel (HS135). The Slovenian triumphed with jumps of 125.5 m and 123.5 m and with an advantage of 18.8 points over Nika Kriznar. The podium was completed by the hosts’ athlete, Julia Clair.
Ursa Bogataj overjumped other athletes in the first round. The leader of the FIS Grand Prix soared 125.5 meters and at the halfway point of the competition in Courchevel she was ahead of 13.9 points over Nika Kriznar (115.5 m). Third place, 17.2 points behind the leader, was occupied by the athlete of the host nation, Julia Clair (121 m). The fourth was Luisa Goerlich (126.5 m), the fifth was Josephine Pagnier (105.5 m), and the sixth was Nika Prevc (118 m).
In the final, Ursa Bogataj sealed the victory with a flight of 123.5 meters. The Olympic champion from Beijing triumphed by 18.8 points over Nika Kriznar (115 m). Julia Clair (116 m) stood on the lowest step of the podium, ahead of Nika Prevc (115.5 m), Josephine Pagnier (112 m) and Luisa Goerlich (104 m).
Thanks to the victory in Courchevel, Ursa Bogataj (280 points) strengthened her lead in the FIS Grand Prix overall standings. The Slovenian is ahead of Nika Kriznar (240 points) and Josephine Pagnier (155 points).
The next competition of the FIS Grand Prix will be held on September 17-18 in Rasnov (HS97). Individual competition is planned for Saturday, and on Sunday the athletes will take part in the mixed team event.
