The Austrian team consisting of Julia Muehlbacher, Jan Hoerl, Eva Pinkelnig and Daniel Tschofenig won Sunday’s mixed team competition of the FIS Grand Prix at the Trambulina Valea Carbunarii hill (HS97) in Rasnov, Romania. Second place went to Slovenia and third to Norway. Due to the strong wind, the competition was ended after the first round.
From the beginning of Sunday’s competition, the jury had to struggle with difficult wind conditions. The first competition round was interrupted many times due to too strong gusts. The final round was first delayed for ten minutes and then cancelled.
In this situation, Austria won the mixed team competition with a 3.7 point advantage over Slovenia. Norway completed the podium.
Surprisingly, Switzerland was ranked on the fourth place. Germany was fifth, Czech Republic sixth, Romania seventh and Italy eighth.
Originally, the Japanese team was ranked on the fourth place. Ultimately, the Asians took the last, ninth place after Ren Nikaido’s disqualification for ski boots.
The final competitions of the FIS Grand Prix 2022 will be held on 1-2 October in Klingenthal, Germany. The schedule contains mixed team and individual competitions.
