Silje Opseth won Sunday’s World Cup competition at Okurayama (HS137) in Sapporo. The athlete from Norway triumphed with jumps of 135.5 m and 121 m. Ema Klinec from Slovenia was second, and Eva Pinkelnig from Austria was third.
In the first competition round, Silje Opseth created the advantage on other athletes. The Norwegian achieved 135.5 meters, but due to lower marks for style she was only 1.5 points ahead of the second Katharina Althaus (129 m) and 2.8 points. over third Eva Pinkelnig (129 m). Ema Klinec (128 m) was also close to the top.
In the final, Silje Opseth landed on 121 meters and won the fourth World Cup competition in her career. The Norwegian triumphed with an advantage of 4.8 points over the second Ema Klinec (122 m). The podium was completed by Eva Pinkelnig (121 m). Place in the top three was not defended by Katharina Althaus. The winner of Saturday’s competition dropped to fourth place after a jump of 117 meters, ahead of Nika Kriznar (127.5 m) and Thea Minyan Bjoerseth (123.5 m).
Eva Pinkelnig (836 points) is invariably leading in the overall World Cup standings, ahead of Katharina Althaus (677 points) and Anna Odine Stroe (547 points).
The next World Cup competition will be held on January 13-15 in Zao (HS102). Individual competitions are planned for Friday and Sunday, while on Saturday – the premiere super team competition.
