Katharina Althaus won Friday’s FIS World Cup individual competition at the Trambulina Valea Carbunarii hill (HS97) in Rasnov. The German triumphed with jumps of 89.5 m and 98.5 m. The second place went to Eva Pinkelnig, and the third was Eirin Maria Kvandal.
After the first round Eva Pinkelnig was in the lead. The yellow bib holder landed at 90 meters and at the halfway point had an advantage of 0.6 points over Katharina Althaus (89.5 m) and 1.6 points over Eirin Maria Kvandal (88 m). Fourth was Anna Odine Stroem (89 m), fifth Ema Klinec (87.5 m), and sixth Julia Muehlbacher (88.5 m).
In the final, Katharina Althaus successfully attacked. The German reached 98.5 meters and triumphed with an advantage of 12.4 points over Eva Pinkelnig (93 m). Eirin Maria Kvandal (91.5 m) jumped to the lowest step of the podium, ahead of Anna Odine Stroem (88.5 m), Ema Klinec (89 m) and Yuki Ito (88 m).
In the overall standings of the FIS World Cup, Eva Pinkelnig’s lead (1,402 points) over Katharina Althaus (1,193 points) decreased to 209 points. The third place is shared by Anna Odine Stroem and Ema Klinec (930 points).
The second competition in Rasnov is scheduled on Saturday.
