Ema Klinec triumphs in the final Raw Air competition and at the same time the first ever women’s ski flying competition in Vikersund (HS240). The Slovenian set a new women’s world record in the first round, flying to 226 meters. In the final she reached 223.5 meters. Klinec also won the overall standings of the Norwegian tournament. The second place in the competition was taken by Silje Opseth, and the third by Yuki Ito.
The first round of the historic women’s ski flying competition ended with a new women’s world record in ski jump length. Ema Klinec reached 226 meters, four meters more than Alexandria Loutitt on Saturday. At the halfway point of the competition, the Slovenian was 17.5 points ahead of Silje Opseth (211 m – a new personal record) and 34.9 points over Katharina Althaus (194 m).
In the second round, Ema Klinec sealed her victory with a flight of 223.5 meters. The Slovenian won the historic women’s ski flying competition with a margin of 41 points over second-placed Silje Opseth (207 m). Yuki Ito (190 m) jumped to the lowest step of the podium, ahead of Katharina Althaus (190 m).
The ski flying in Vikersund ended the rivalry in the Raw Air tournament. The winner of the overall standings was Ema Klinec (1859.6 points), who received EUR 40,000 for her success. The second place was taken by Katharina Althaus (1771.5 points – EUR 15.000), and the third place went to Selina Freitag (1704.3 points – EUR 5.000).
Only one competition remains until the end of the season. On Friday, March 24, the final of the Ski Jumping World Cup will take place in Lahti (HS130) with the participation of the TOP30 athletes of the overall standings.
