Hannah Wiegele won Friday’s FIS Cup competition at the Puijo hill (HS100) in Kuopio. The Austrian won with jumps of 96.5 m and 88.5 m. Julia Muehlbacher was second and Bing Dong finished third.
Hannah Wiegele was already in the lead after the first round. The Austrian athlete reached 96.5 meters and was 7 points ahead of Kurumi Ichinohe (94 m). Bing Dong was third with a fallen jump of 99.5 meters. Julia Muehlbacher (87.5 m), Anastasiia Subbotina (85 m) and Birun Shao (88 m) were just behind the best trio.
In the final, Hannah Wiegele sealed the victory with a jump of 88.5 meters. The Austrian beat Julia Muehlbacher (87 m) by 12.8 points. The lowest step of the podium went to Bing Dong (86.5 m). Susanna Forsstroem (95.5 m), Kurumi Ichinohe (78 m) and Liangyao Wang (94 m) finished behind the top three athletes.
The new leader of the FIS Cup overall standings is Bing Dong (245 points), ahead of Birun Shao (205 points) and Mariia Iakovleva (200 points).
On Friday, the new season of the Summer Continental Cup will be inaugurated on the hill in Kuopio. The organizers’ plan includes two competitions to be played on the same day. The next competition of the FIS Cup series will be held on August 26-27 in Gerardmer, France.
