Last Tuesday (September, 8th) Maren Lundby finally received the long-awaited Crystal Globe for winning the overall World Cup standings 2019/2020.

The award ceremony took place in Lillehammer, at Lysgaardsbakken ski jumping complex, where the second day of the RAW Air Challenge was planned. Due to strong wind the jumping was not possible and Maren’s ceremony was the highlight of the day.

The Norwegian jumper had to wait for her trophy over 6 months. First the Crystal Globe got stuck in Russia, where the season’s final was originally scheduled and cancelled due to coronavirus. Then the trophy got damaged during transport and it had to be replaced. The International Ski Federation (FIS) prepared a new Crystal Globe and Lundby, who just turned 26, could finally celebrate receiving her well-deserved award.

Maren Lundby won the World Cup overall three times in a row and equalled the achievement of Adam Małysz (her big sports idol). Now the Norwegian superstar is dreaming of beating that record and winning the World Cup for the 4th time.
