COC in Vikersund: Repinc Zupancic’s clear victory

Jerneja Repinc Zupancic became the winner of Saturday’s Continental Cup competition in Vikersund (HS117). The Slovenian athlete won thanks to two jumps on a distance of 104 m. Ksenia Kablukova was second and Julia Muehlbacher was third.

Jerneja Repinc Zupancic was already in the lead after the first round, in which she soared to 104 meters. The Slovenian was ahead of Ksenia Kablukova (102.5 m) and Julia Muehlbacher (101 m). Nika Vetrih (100.5 m) was fourth, Sophie Kothbauer (95.5 m) was fifth and Anezka Indrackova (94.5 m) was sixth.

A dangerous fall after landing was made by the Czech Veronika Jencova (95.5 m). The athlete needed medical help, which caused a break in the competition for several minutes. The jumper didn’t take part in the final round. The dominator of the training rounds, Sophie Sorschag (86.5 m) also fell, but the Austrian participated in the second round.

In the final, Jerneja Repinc Zupancic landed again on 104 meters and won the competition with an advantage of 21.1 points over Ksenia Kablukova (96.5 m). Julia Muehlbacher (98 m) was third, followed by Hannah Wiegele (98.5 m), Sophie Sorschag (106.5 m) and Anezka Indrackova (98 m).

Diana Toropchenova (180 points) leads in FIS Continental Cup overall standings ahead of Mariia Iakovleva (150 points) and Dong Bing (130 points).

A second competition in Vikersund is scheduled for Sunday, 10:45 CET.
