COC in Vikersund: Sorschag takes a win

Sophie Sorschag won the FIS Continental Cup competition on Sunday in Vikersund (HS117). The Austrian triumphed with jumps of 105 m and 107 m. Jerneja Repinc Zupancic was second and Nika Vetrih was third.

Sophie Sorschag was in the lead already after the first round. The Austrian from the shortened inrun soared to 105 meters and in the halfway point she was ahead of the second Jerneja Repinc Zupancic (109 m) by 9.7 points. Third was Nika Vetrih (107.5 m), fourth was Sophie Kothbauer (102 m), fifth was Julia Muehlbacher (99 m), and the sixth was Frida Berger (100 m).

In the final, Sophie Sorschag landed on 107 meters and triumphed by 25.6 points over Jerneja Repinc Zupancic (106 m) and 45.5 points over Nika Vetrih (102 m). Sophie Kothbauer (101 m), Julia Muehlbacher (100 m) and Ksenia Kablukova (100 m) finished just behind the podium.

Jerneja Repinc Zupancic and Diana Toropchenova (180 points each) lead ex aequo in the overall standings. Mariia Iakovleva is third (172 points).

The next FIS Continental Cup competitions will be held in next weekend, December 17-18 in Notodden (HS98).
