WC in Wisla: Pinkelnig wins and takes the leadership

Eva Pinkelnig triumphed in the second competition of the FIS World Cup at the Adam Małysz hill (HS134) in Wisla. The Austrian won with jumps of 129 m and 126 m and thus took the lead in the overall standings. Germany’s Katharina Althaus came second, and Sweden’s Frida Westman finished third.

Eva Pinkelnig reached the longest jump in first round. The third competitor of the inaugural competition landed on 129 meters and was leading by 6.4 points over Frida Westman (127 m) and 11.6 points over Marita Kramer (124 m). Nika Kriznar (124 m) was fourth, Sara Takanashi (121.5 m) was fifth, and Katharina Althaus (123 m) was sixth.

In the final, Eva Pinkelnig jumped 128.5 meters and celebrated her fourth World Cup victory in the career. The Austrian triumphed with an advantage of 10.9 points over Katharina Althaus (131 m). The third place went to Frida Westman (127.5 m), who reached the first podium in the ski jumping World Cup for Sweden in 30 years. The next places were taken by Nika Kriznar (129 m), Sara Takanashi (129 m) and Marita Kramer (124 m).

Thanks to the win at the Adam Malysz hill, Eva Pinkelnig (160 points) took the lead in the World Cup overall standings. The Austrian is ahead of Silje Opseth (136 points) and Marita Kramer (120 points).
