Katharina Althaus won Saturday’s FIS World Cup competition at the Lysgaardsbakken (HS98) in Lillehammer. The German athlete jumped 99 m and 96.5 m. Eva Pinkelnig was second and Marita Kramer third.
Katharina Althaus was in the lead after the first round. The German landed on 99 meters and at the halfway point she was ahead of Nika Prevc (97.5 m) by 3.9 points and Eva Pinkelnig (95 m) by 7.3 points. Fourth was former Abigail Strate (96.5 m), fifth Anna Rupprecht (95 m), and sixth Marita Kramer (93 m).
In the final, Katharina Althaus sealed her ninth World Cup victory with a jump of 96.5 meters. The German won with an advantage of 9.9 points over Eva Pinkelnig (97 m). The third place went to Marita Kramer (97 m), ahead of Abigail Strate (93.5 m), Ursa Bogataj (95 m) and Selina Freitag (94.5 m).
Eva Pinkelnig (240 points) kept the lead in the overall World Cup overall standings, ahead of Katharina Althaus (190 points) and Marita Kramer (180 points).
On Sunday the athletes will move to the large hill HS140 in Lillehammer.
