Katharina Althaus won Saturday’s FIS World Cup competition at Okurayama (HS137) in Sapporo. The German athlete jumped 122 m and 131 m. Ema Klinec from Slovenia came second, and Eva Pinkelnig from Austria was third.
Katharina Althaus was leading after the first round of Saturday’s competition. The second athlete of the World Cup standings landed on 122 meters and at the halfway point of the competition she had 1.1 points advantage over the second Ema Klinec (122 m). The third place went to Eva Pinkelnig (122 m) ahead of Selina Freitag (116.5 m), Nozomi Maruyama (120 m) and Marita Kramer (114.5 m).
In the final, Katharina Althaus confirmed her victory on Okurayama with a jump of 131 meters. The German triumphed with an advantage of 7.5 points over Ema Klinec (129 m). The lowest step of the podium was taken by Eva Pinkelnig (126.5 m). Fourth place went to Silje Opseth (129 m), fifth to Chiara Kreuzer (129.5 m) and sixth to Selina Freitag (125.5 m).
Eva Pinkelnig (776 points) leads the FIS World Cup overall standings, followed by Katharina Althaus (627 points) and Anna Odine Stroe (527 points)
The second competition in Sapporo is scheduled for Sunday.
