Ema Klinec became the new world champion on the normal hill! The athlete from Slovenia triumphed in the competition of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships Oberstdorf 2021 with jumps of 105 m and 100.5 m. The silver medal went to Maren Lundby and the bronze medallist was Sara Takanashi. Marita Kramer, who set up a new hill record (109 m) in the first round, was ranked just behind the podium.

In the first round, Marita Kramer made the farthest jump. The athlete from Austria set a new hill record with a 109 meter jump. However, due to the low marks for style, she was only a point ahead of the second Ema Klinec (105 m) and 2.2 points ahead of the third Sarah Takanashi (104 m). Maren Lundby (102.5 m) was fourth, Thea Minyan Bjoerseth (99.5 m) was fifth and Nika Kriznar (95 m) was sixth.

Silje Opseth (93 m), Daniela Iraschko-Stolz (95.5 m) together with Jerneja Brecl (95.5 m) and Yuki Ito (93.5 m) were ranked on the next places.

The final round provided a lot of emotions at the decisive moments. Ultimately, Ema Klinec became the world champion. The Slovenina, who had never won a World Cup competition before, reached 100.5 meters. The silver medal, 3.1 points behind the winner, was won by Maren Lundby (99.5 m). Sara Takanashi (100 m) stood on the lowest step of the podium.

Leader after the first jump, Marita Kramer had problems with landing again. Low marks after the jump of 98 meters cost her the medal. The Austrian finished fourth, 1.1 points behind the podium. World Cup leader Nika Kriznar (97 m) was fifth and Silje Opseth (98 m) was sixth.

The next places were taken by Thea Minyan Bjoerseth (92 m), Daniela Iraschko-Stolz (95 m) and Jerneja Brecl (94.5 m). The top ten was closed by the hosts’ best athlete, Katharina Althaus (98 m).
