Anna Rupprecht twice set the longest distance in the first training rounds of the Junior World Championships in Hinterzarten.
Two official training rounds were held in Hinterzarten on Wednesday. In both of them German athletes set the longest distances. With jumps on 98.5 and 105.0 meters 13 year old Anna Rupprecht performed best in both rounds. Juliane Seyfarth was equal to her in the second round, as she also jumped 105.0 m, but a 93.0 m jump in the first round was only the 9th round rank for her. Also Melanie Faisst (97.0 and 102.0 m) and Carina Vogt (97.5 and 103 m) had two really good jumps.
Austria’s hope Jacqueline Seifriedsberger placed fourth in both rounds (95.5 and 102.0 m). Coline Mattel (FRA), initially treated as the absolute favourite by many, took a 6th and a 7th rank jumping 95.0 and 100.5 meters. After a good first training jump on 95.5 m America’s Sarah Hendrickson only jumped 93.5 meters in the second round. Sara Takanashi (JPN, 93.5 and 101.5 m) was able to cross the 100 meter line in the second round, as well as Italy’s Elena Runggaldier (94.5 and 100.5 m).
Two more official training rounds will be held tomorrow, the competition is on Friday at 4 pm.
