WoGoS Ladies Cup in Muerzzuschlag

This weekend the Ladies Cup was held in Mürzzuschlag. Germany won the team event, Slovenia two of three individual competitions.

WoGoS (Women Go Sport) is a programme by the Austrian Ministry of Sports. Its goal is to boost equality in sports. After a first Ladies Skijumping competition for juniors this January, now the Ladies Cup Skijumping was created. Initiators of this new series are Gerald Daringer (AUT) and Rainer Berkenkopf (GER). In this season 12 competitions will be held in 4 countries. Aim of this new series of competitions, is to be an be an international platform for junior athletes and support them in reaching the level of performance of the FIS Ladies Continentalcup.

The first competitions of this series were held on this weekend in Mürzzuschlag (AUT) on the K55. On Saturday there was a team event, on Sunday an individual competition, that was started in three age groups.

Germany dominates team event

The team event on Saturday was totally dominated by the German teams. In line with expectations, the team Germany I (Svenja Würth, Veronika Zobel, Anna Rupprecht, Ramona Straub) was able to win. Second rank tool Slovenia (Julija Srsen, Ursa Bogataj, Manja Pograic, Ema Klinec). On the third rank was team Germany II (Katharina Althaus, Lucienne Höppner, Elisa Gronau, Sarah Pöppel).

Slovenians win the individual competitions

In the competition of the 12-14 year olds, it was a close race between Slovenia’s Ema Klinec and Germany’s Anna Rupprecht. Finally Klinec was able to win by 1.5 points. Third was Austria’s Elisabeth Raudaschl. Fourth rank took Sonja Schoitsch (AUT) ahead of Romania’s Dana Haralambie. Katharina Althaus (GER) took the sixth rank.

In the competition of the 12-14 year olds, it was a close race between Slovenia’s Ema Klinec and Germany’s Anna Rupprecht. Finally Klinec was able to win by 1.5 points. Third was Austria’s Elisabeth Raudaschl. Fourth rank took Sonja Schoitsch (AUT) ahead of Romania’s Dana Haralambie. Katharina Althaus (GER) took the sixth rank.

The competition for 15-17 year olds was clearly won by Ursa Bogataj (SLO). Ranks two to four were taken by three Germans, Ramona Straub, Svenja Würth and Veronika Zobel. Fifth rank took Slovenia’s Manja Pograjc ahead of Germany’s Sarah Pöppel.

In addition there was also a competition for Ladies with an age of 18 or older. In this one only two competitors participated. Italy’s Barbara Stuffer won ahead of Germany’s Elisa Gronau.
