Coline Mattel wins this Summer Continental Cup’s inaugural competition ahead of Sara Takanashi and Maja Vtic.
Coline Mattel (FRA) won this summer’s first Continental Cup on the HS106 hill in Szczyrk. A pair of jumps on 103.5. and 100.5 meters was enough for her to win ahead of Japan’s Sara Takanashi, who jumped 105.0 and 98.5 meters and was finally only one point behind. Despite Slovenia’s Maja Vtic jumped 104.5 and 101.0 meters, she only came third, as the wind compensation rules were used in this competition.
Fourth came Italy’s Lisa Demetz (101.0 and 100.5 m). Ranks five to eight were taken by members of the strong German team only. A little surprising Katharina Althaus was best of them. With jumps on 95.5 and 99.0 meters she took the fifth rank. It is her best career result so far. Sixth came Anna Rupprecht (98.0 and 99.5 m), ahead of Ulrike Grässler (twice 100.5 m) and Melanie Faisst (98.5 and 95.0 m).
The Continental Cup continues on Friday in Zakopane.
