Austria’s Daniela Iraschko has undergone a meniscus surgery.
Austrian World Champion Daniela Iraschko successfully underwent a meniscus surgery at the sanatorium in Hochrum. But presumably she will be able to compete at the World Cup opening in Lillehammer on December 3rd.
“Of course it was a little shock, when the MRI-examination revealed an injury. I had some pain in my knee during the last days. But now I am glad, that the surgery went without complications. I am confident that I will be able to start in Lillehammer. This all reminds me of the situation before the World Championships in Oslo, that I a also managed well”, Iraschko said. Just two weeks before the Worlds in Oslo this February, she had already suffered another knee injury, when she fell at the Continental Cup in Zakopane. By then it was very uncertain if she could participate in Oslo, but eventually she became World Champion there.
Also the physician in charge, Dr. Christian Hoser, gave a positive opinion: “I am very happy that the surgery went fine. Daniela Iraschko had a tear in the outer meniscus of the right knee. If the rehabilitation runs fine, she should be able to restart fitness training in two weeks. I am confident, that she will be able to compete at the World Cup opening.”
Ladies-Skijumping.com wishes her a speedy recovery.
