Ahead of the first World Cup season Ladies-Skijumping.com takes a close look at all national teams. We continue this series with France.
During the last two years Coline Mattel was always among the strongest jumpers of the world, so there is little doubt that she will play an important role in the upcoming winter. Together with Austria’s Daniela Iraschko she is one of the two absolute favourites for the World Cup. Moreover she has also a good chance to defend her title at the Junior World Championships.
At the Continenal Cup in Oberwiesenthal this summer Lea Lemare and Julia Clair both celebrated their best results so far (2nd and 4th rank). This was a good hint on what they are able to achieve if all runs perfect, but for sure these results must not be overrated, as this competition was heavily influenced by changing winds. On normal conditions rankings within the top twenty are realistic goals for both.
Caroline Espiau plans to return to the national team this winter, after taking a one year long break from jumping on medical reasons. It is a suspenseful question, if she is able to perform as well as before this break.
