Daniela Iraschko wins on Saturday in Zakopane ahead of Sarah Hendrickson and Ema Klinec.
Austria’s Daniela Iraschko won the second Continental Cup in Zakopane. Her 91.0 meter jump in the first round was the farthest of the day, but as she did not land that jump properly, she only got low judges points for it. But with a 83.5 meter jump in the second round she eventually won the competition.
In the end second ranked Sarah Hendrickson (USA) was only a half point behind Iraschko. She jumped 79.5 meters in the first round and so was only fourth by then, but with a strong 86.5 meter jump in the second round she was able to regain lost ground. Like yesterday Slovenia’s Ema Klinec came third. With jumps on 81.0 and 76.5 meters she was only a half point ahead of fourth ranked Coline Mattel (FRA, 81.0 and 76.5 m).
Fifth came Slovenia’s Maja Vtic with jumps on 78.5 and 75.0 meters. Ranks six and seven were taken by two Americans, Jessica Jerome (78.5 and 75.0 m) and Abby Hughes (76.5 and 73.5 m). Yesterday’s sixth Lucie Mikova (CZE) came eighth today (74.0 and 75.5 m), Alissa Johnson on the ninth rank completed the strong result of the American team (79.0 and 71.0 m). Russia’s Irina Taktaeva celebrated her best career result so far on the 10th rank (73.0 and 70.5 m).
With today’s win Iraschko extended her lead in the overall Continental Cup. She has now 360 points, second ranked Hendrickson has 320. Vtic is third with 216 points. The two final CoCs will be held on February 18th/19th in Liberec.
