Junior World Championships in Erzurum kicked off

Sara Takanashi was best in the first official training on Tuesday in Erzurum.

One of the highlights of this season, the Junior World Championships in Erzurum, Turkey, were kicked off yesterday in the evening with an opening ceremony. In Ladies Skijumping two competitions will be held, an individual one on Tuesday and a team event on Saturday. Today the first of two official trainings was held.

Already in the first training round Japan’s Sara Takanashi made the farthest jump of the day on 110.5 meters. Second of that round was Germany’s Carina Vogt with 104.0 meters and third World Cup leader Sarah Hendrickson from America with 103.0 m.

In the second round the jumps were in general a little bit shorter. 97.5 meters by Slovenia’s Spela Rogelj was the farthest distance. Second best of the round was Yurina Yamada (JPN) with 97.0 meters. The third rank was shared by Takanashi and defending champion Coline Mattel from France that both jumped 96.0 meters.

In the third training round it was again Takanashi who was best. With 105.0 meters she was ahead of Rogelj (102.0 m) and Hendrickson (101.5 m). The second official training will be held tomorrow at 13:00h.
