Ema Klinec won the first Continental Cup in Oberwiesenthal ahead of Michaela Dolezelova and Juliane Seyfarth.
It’s already March, but today this winter’s Continental Cup was finally kicked-off on the K95/HS106 hill in Oberwiesenthal, Germany. The reason why no competitions on this level were held before is, that two Continental Cups which were planned to be held in Notodden, Norway, in December had to be cancelled due to a lack of snow.
None of the athletes holding the first positions in the Word Cup participates in these Continental Cups, nevertheless 43 jumpers from 10 countries attended the competition, among them also some debutants on an international level.
Commanding winner of this first competition today came Slovenia’s up-and-coming talent Ema Klinec. The 14 year old jumped 102.5 and 102.0 meters and so and so won with an advantage of more than 25 points ahead of Michaela Dolezelova from the Czech Republic, who showed a pair of jumps of 98.5 and 93.5 meters. The third place was taken by Germany’s Juliane Seyfarth. She jumped 93.0 and 94.0 meters.
On rank four followed Russia’s Irina Avvakumova with jumps of 96.0 and 93.5 meters. Places five and six were taken by two more Germans, Pauline Hessler (95.5 and 92.5 m) and Ramona Straub (91.0 and 92.0 m).
A second CoC competition will be held tomorrow in Oberwiesenthal, two more races are scheduled in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, on the next weekend.
