French team absolved successful summer training camps. Caroline Espiau is out of action due to a knee injury.

The preparation of the French team for the upcoming Olympic season is running very well. Since mid of May the team, consisting of Coline Mattel, Lea Lemare and Julia Clair, absolved already four highly successful training camps. One training camp in June was held together with the French men’s team lead by coach Matjaz Zupan. “This was an interesting camp. We will be again in Courchevel this week for another training camp together with the Italian ladies”, assistant coach Frédéric Zoz said to Ladies-Skijumping.com. “The girls are now focused 200% on Ski jumping, as they all passed their school exams successfully.”

During the next weeks jumping will be the basic objective of the team, but next to that they will also test some new equipment. The team plans to travel to Hinterzarten already one week before the Summer Grand Prix to do some more training there.

Caroline Espiau suffered a serious knee injury

But not everything in the French team is fine, as Caroline Espiau fell severely during training in Chaux-Neuve some weeks ago. She suffered multiple ligament injuries and also damaged the meniscus of her right knee. She underwent a surgery in Grenoble and will begin a rehab at the European Center in Capbreton, in the southwest of France, in early August. Ladies-Skijumping.com wishes her a speedy recovery.
