Lindsey Van wins qualification in Sapporo

Lindsey Van won the qualification in Sapporo, where two World Cups will be held this weekend.

The next World Cups, on this and the next weekend, take place in Japan. First stage there is the HS100 hill in Sapporo, where a qualification was held on Friday. Winner of the qualification came Lindsey Van (USA) with a jump of 92.0 meters. Second ranked Spela Rogelj from Slovenia jumped even 96.5 meters, but lost 11.6 points to wind compensation. Japan’s Yuki Ito came third by jumping 91.0 meters, Finland’s Julia Kykkänen fourth with 92.0 meters. Places five and six in this qualification were taken by Gyda Enger from Norway (90.5 m) and Alissa Johnson from the United States (90.0 m).

Best of the pre-qualified jumpers was Irina Avvakumova (RUS), who jumped 93.0 meters. Of the other pre-qualified athletes only Maja Vtic from Slovenia was able to cross the 90.0 meters line. Sara Takanashi, Carina Vogt and Katharina Althaus took a pass on this qualification.
