The official training in Planica on Friday was cancelled due to heavy snowfall.
If the weather has a sense of humor, then it has to be a dark one. There was no snow in Europe this winter and there were green landscapes all around – even in the Alps. The lacking of snow was also the reason, why this World Cup weekend was moved from Ljubno to Planica, where enough artificial snow was available to prepare the jumping hill. But tonight it started to snow and the landscape changed it’s color from green to white. As the snowfall lasted all day, it was impossible to jump, and so the official training for the competitions here was cancelled. The handful of jumpers that did their training jump prior to the cancellation simply had no chance to jump far, as the fresh snow in the inrun slowed them down too much.
It is now planned to hold one official training round tomorrow at 12:00 o`clock, that will be followed immediately by the trial round. The competition will be held as planned at 14:00 h. A qualification is not necessary, as only 48 jumpers are on the start list.
