Irina Avvakumova won on Saturday in Chaikovsky ahed of Carina Vogt and Sara Takanashi.
Local heroine Irina Avvakumova won the second World Cup competition in Chaikovsky, Russia, on Saturday and so broke the winning streak of Sara Takanashi from Japan, that lasted since the beginning of this season. Avvakumova made a pair of jumps of 100.0 and 101.5 meters and so celebrates the first World Cup victory in her career. Second behind her came Carina Vogt from Germany with jumps of 101.0 and 99.0 meters. Takanashi jumped twice 98.5 meters and so took the third rank, although she was only sixth after the first round.
With Katharina Althaus another German took the fourth place. She jumped 97.0 meters twice. Coline Mattel from France jumped 100.0 meters in the first round and so was in the lead at half-time. By jumping 97.0 meters in the second round she eventually fell back to the fifth place. Ema Klinec from Slovenia came sixth by jumping 99.0 and 97.5 meters.
Takanashi still leads in the overall World Cup with 460 points. Avvvakumova is now second with 315 points, Vogt is third with 306 points.
