Coline Mattel won on Saturday in Zakopane ahead of Sara Takanashi and Eva Logar. Iraschko’s streak is broken, as she only came fifth.
Due to bad weather conditions, the official training for today’s Continental Cup in Zakopane was cancelled yesterday. As it was held today in the morning, the competition was eventually kicked-off one hour later then planed.
France’s Coline Mattel won this Continental Cup on the K85 with a pair of jumps on 85.5 and 88.0 meters. This is her sixth win of the season. “My first jump wasn’t very good, but I delivered a good second attempt. I’m happy with this result!” she said. Second came Japan’s Sara Takanashi (85.0 and 86.5 m). “My podium place here in Zakopane does not change the expectations for the World Championships in Oslo. There, I hope to finish inside the Top Ten,” she said. Slovenia’s Eva Logar took the third rank (83.5 and 86.5 m). “Could be that someone sees in me a co-favourite for a World Championship’s medal. I don’t care that much, it is more important to focus on the jumps and on the feeling,” she said about her third podium result in this winter.
The fourth rank took Germany’s Juliane Seyfarth (82.5 and 85.0 m). Austria’s Daniela Irascko only came fifth today (84.0 and 83.0 m). She was handicapped by an injury she had suffered in the official training. “After my fall in the training round, my leg hurt. I was not able to stretch it completely. However, it was important for me to return right away on the hill to gain new confidence,” she said. Since December 2009 she had been either first or second in every competition she attended. This series has now found an end – after 38 competitions. Slovenia’s Ursa Bogataj finished sixth (84.5 and 82.5m), this is her best result in the Continental Cup so far.
With today’s result, Iraschko has failed to prematurely win the overall Continental Cup. She has now 1445 points in this ranking, second ranked Mattel has 1000. Logar has now taken the third rank with 619 points.
