Coline Mattel won Sunday’s competition in Zakopane ahead of Sara Takanashi and Elena Runggaldier. Daniela Iraschko prematurely won overall CoC.

Yesterday’s winner Coline Mattel (FRA) won also today’s second Continental Cup on the K85 in Zakopane. A pair of jumps on 90.0 and 90.5 meters was sufficient for her to win the competition, that was held at nice and sunny weather conditions. “I am satisfied with my jumps today; they were better than yesterday,” she said after the competition. Second came Japan’s Sara Takanashi, who set the competition’s longest distance in the second round (91.5 m), after already jumping 87.5 in the first. “I’m looking forward to the competitions in Ramsau; there, I want to jump even better,” she said. Third came Italy’s Elena Runggaldier (87.5 and 88.5 m). “My jumping is getting better and better, and the result is good for self-confidence. Oslo is coming nearer and nearer,” she said.

Germany’s Ulrike Grässler came fourth (88.0 and 87.5). It is already her fifth top ten-result in the last six competitions. After underperforming in the early competitions of the season, it looks like the 2009 silver medalist is hitting into form right in time for the World Championships. Yesterday’s third, Slovenia’s Eva Logar took the fifth rank today (85.0 and 82.5 m) ahead of her team-mate Ursa Bogataj (twice 81.5 m).

Iraschko prematurely won overall Continental Cup

Austria’s Daniela Iraschko skipped today’s competition, as the knee injury she suffered in yesterday’s official training requires some careful examinations. Nevertheless she is still in the lead in the overall Continental Cup with 1445 points. Second ranked Mattel (1100) will not challenge her in this ranking, as today was the last Continental Cup in this season for her: “I won’t be in Ramsau next weekend. I won’t also compete in Zao – the overall CoC standing is not important to me,” she announced. So Iraschko is now fixed as winner of the overall Continental Cup 2010/2011.
