Daniela Iraschko wins Continental Cup in Schonach. Carina Vogt and Anette Sagen take second and third place.
The Ski Club Schönwald was hosting today’s Ladies Continental Cup on the K90 hill in near Schonach. The organizers did a good job to create a grand athmosphere for that event. Musket marskmen and the local marching band were there to welcome the specators.
The slight snowfall, that was there during the trial round, stopped just in time for the first competition round, so good weather conditions were given. In the first round, Daniela Iraschko’s (AUT) 95.5 m jump brought her into a commanding position. On the second place was Ulrike Gräßler (GER). Anette Sagen (NOR, 89.0 m), Carina Vogt (GER, 88.0 m) and Špela Rogelj (SLO, 88.0 m) were sharing the third place with equal points. Sixth was Juliane Seyfarth (GER, 87.0 m), seventh Jacqueline Seifriedsberger (AUT, 86.0 m).
In the second competition round 90.0 m were enough for Iraschko to win the competition. Vogt, who jumped the longest distance of that round (94.0 m), took the second place. With that second podium in the Winter Tournee she has given prove, that her win in Baiersbronn last Saturday was not just a flash in the pan. I have a good base. When I am able to attune to a jumping hill, then it is going to run, she said to Ladies-Skijumping.com. Third rank was taken by Sagen (92.0 m), fourth by Seyfarth (90.0 m). Grässler fell back to the fifth place, as she got only low judges points for her 89.0 m jump. Sixth place was taken by Seifriedsberger (90.0 m). Jumping only 83.5 meters in that second round, Rogelj fell back to the 12th rank.
The winner Iraschko, was awarded with the challenging cup of Ski Club Schönwald. It was a new cup, as Iraschko was able to take the old trophy home permanently in the last year, by winning it five times. The old cup is nicer. There are more names on it and it is full of memories. But that new one will also be nice later on, she said to Ladies-Skijumping.com.
With that win Iraschko has extended her lead in the overall Winter Tournee. She has now 739.0 points. Second ranked Sagen (712.5 points) thinks that it is still possible to catch up to her: Of course it is possible. I think she is 28 points ahead of me. I just have to beat her in both competitions by 15 points. That’s hard, but it is possible, she said to Ladies-Skijumping.com.
In the overall Continental Cup Iraschko has now 784 points, ahead of Sagen (640 points) and Grässler (597 points).
