Austria’s Esther Steindl has quit her career. At the Continental Cups in Bischofsgrün and Oberwiesenthal, the 19 year old Tyrolean was not a part of the team anymore.

Steindl graduated from the secondary school for ski athletes in Stams this year. She is now studying to become a teacher at a university of education. She retired from active sports, as it would have been too difficult to combine studies with training. Moreover Steindl was conscious of the fact, that she would have needed to increase her training efforts to keep pace with the rest of the members of the Austrian team.

Steindl made her debut in the Continental Cup in January 2006. Her best result was in 2007, when she came 27th in Dobbiaco/Toblach. Furthermore she participated at the Junior World Championships 2007 in Planica. She won the Bronze Medal at the Austrian Championships 2008 in Oberstdorf (GER).

Despite the end of her sporting career, Steindl will stay involved in skijumping. Since the end of the winter she is coaching children in her hometown Absam and wants to expand this activity.

Ladies-Skijumping.com wishes her good luck for the future.
