Mari Backe has quit her career

Archives

Norway’s Mari Backe quit her career. Already after the last winter she has retired from skijumping and was not participating in this summer’s competitions anymore.

The reason for her retirement was a lack of motivation. Right now she is working in a kindergarten, but plans to attend a school of physiotherapy next year. So maybe she will return to the jumping hills as a physiotherapist sometime.

Backe made her debut in an international competition during the Ladies Summer Tour 2004 in Bischofshofen. Since she participated in 52 Continental Cup competitions, for the last time this March in Zakopane. A 17th rank in Vaaler 2006 was her best result. She also competed three times at Junior World Championships, in 2006, 2007 and 2009.

Ladies-Skijumping.com wishes her good luck for the future.
