Christian Meyer replaces Frode Hare

Christian Meyer is new head coach of the Norwegian team. He signed a contract until 2014.

The Norwegian ski federation “Norges Skiforbund” has installed Christian Meyer as new head coach for the ladies team. The contract he signed expires after the 2014 Olympics in Sochi. Meyer is successor to Frode Håre, who coached the team in the last four years, but did not extended his contract after the disappointing performance at the World Championships in Oslo.

“The goal is to bring the girls back to the level of the world’s elite. There are many exciting seasons ahead, and I’m really looking forward to this. I’ve never coached women on such a level, so this is a new challenge I have to attempt,” Meyer said on

Meyer lives with his girlfriend and two sons in Malvik, a village outside of Trondheim. He was a successful jumper himself in the 1990s. His biggest success was a 20th rank at the Four Hills Tournament in 1999. He was already working as a coach for the last five years.

“We thoroughly checked many potential candidates. Meyer was on top of the list,” said Skiforbund’s sports manager Clas Brede Bråthen on “We are very pleased that he agreed and believe that he has the right qualifications.”

Erik Renmælmo, who was already assistant coach to Håre in the last season, will stay in this position and support also Meyer as assistant.
