Coline Mattel wins on Sunday in Bischofsgruen ahead of Sara Takanashi and Eva Logar.

There couldn’t have been more luck with the weather conditions in Bischofsgrün. Only minutes after the victory ceremony heavy rain set in. Until then it was a perfect summer day, sunny and very hot. Too hot for wearing a jumping suit maybe. The nice weather also attracted some hundred spectators, so there was a quite good atmosphere at this competition.

France’s Coline Mattel won the competition by setting a new hill record for ladies. In the first round she jumped on 70.5 meters. She had already jumped this distance in yesterday’s official training, but by jumping so far also in a competition today, she made this record official. “I am happy, because I made a telemark landing. Sometimes I don’t land with a telemark when I jump far,” she said to Ladies-Skijumping.com after this jump. Her second jump today was a little shorter, only 65.5 meters, but that was still sufficient to win the competition.

With a pair of jumps on 67.5 and 66.0 meters Japans Sara Takanashi came again second. She was already on this rank yesterday. Also like yesterday, Slovenia was very strong as a team. Today it was Eva Logar who took the third place (68.0 and 65.5 m). “I don’t know why we are all so strong this summer. It is totally surprising for us, as we are actually in a phase of heavy training. But I see this results as a good sign for the winter”, she said to Ladies-Skijumping.com.

Also the fourth and fifth place were taken by Slovenians. Ema Klinec was still second after the first jump (68.0 m), but fell back to fourth in the second round (62.0 m). Nevertheless this fourth rank is her best career result so far. Fifth came Ursa Bogataj (67.0 and 64.0 m). Japan’s Ayumi Watase completed the top six (66.0 and 65.5 m). Behind her it was very close, as ranks seven to nine were all less then 1.5 points behind.

With this win, Mattel extended her lead in both, the overall Continental Cup and in the German Summer Tour. In the CoC she has now 350 points, Takanashi has 264. Third in the ranking is still Maja Vtic, who only came tenth today, with 246 points. It seems to be a little doubtful at the moment, if Mattel will compete in Pöhla on Wednesday, so her 11.4 point lead over Takanashi in the Summer Tour might be obsolete.
