Ahead of the first World Cup season Ladies-Skijumping.com takes a close look at all national teams. Today Italy is in the centre of attention.
With Elena Runggaldier, Lisa Demetz and Evelyn Insam the Italian team has three jumpers, that all jump on a very high level. It is hard to find a competition, that was held in the last couple of years, where not at least one of them was among the top ten. Maybe Runggaldier, silver medallist at the 2011 World Championships, is the most stable Italian jumper at the moment, but Demetz and Insam are not far behind her. All tree have the ability to take a place on the podium at a World Cup.
Italy’s A-team is completed by Roberta d’Agostina. In the last years she consistently made it to the second round, on a good day she is also able to catch up to the best fifteen. The Italian B-team is formed by Veronica Gianmoena and Nadine Kostner. Both do not have any Continental Cup points yet and so are not permitted to start at World Cups.
