Sarah Hendrickson wins in Predazzo / Val di Fiemme ahead of Daniela Iraschko and Anette Sagen.
„A stadium in pink“ is the motto, the organizers have chosen for the first Ladies World Cup in Predazzo. And most of the spectators followed their call and wore a pink piece of clothing, such as a hat or a scarf. Who else if not Austrian World Champion Daniela Iraschko, who had pink hair in the past and thus is nicknamed “Pinky”, would like this atmosphere. “That was a nice thing. I think the organizers did a good job,” she said to Ladies-Skijumping.com.
Nevertheless she was not able to win the competition. She finished second behind World Cup leader Sarah Hendrickson (USA). But it was a close race between them. Finally a pair of jumps on 105. and 107.5 meters was enough for Hendrickson, who was behind after the first round, to win the competition. She scored 1.7 points more then Iraschko, who jumped 107.0 and 103.0 meters. Norway’s Anette Sagen, who jumped twice on 99.5 meters, came third. “The wind was changing a lot today, but the jury tried to keep it as fair as possible and did a really good job,” she said to Ladies-Skijumping.com.
With jumps on 103.0 and 93.5 meters America’s Lindsey Van, who was still third after the first round, came fourth. Slovenia’s Katja Pozun (100.0 and 94.0m) came fifth. With Jessica Jerome another American took the sixth rank (96.5 and 94.5 m). With three jumpers among the top six, the United states were clearly the best team today. They were also able to extend their lead in the Nations Cup.
In the overall World Cup Hendrickson has now 329 points and is 136 points ahead of second ranked Iraschko. “I am definitely moving towards the win of the overall cup, but still anything can happen”, she said to Ladies-Skijumping.com. Iraschko has 193 points. The third rank is shared by Van and Coline Mattel (FRA, 10th today) with 166 points each.
