Official training held under terrible weather conditions today. Five debutants are on the start list.
The two final competitions of this winter’s Continental Cup will be held that weekend in Liberec, Czech Republic. Today in the morning an official training was held. There was snowfall and heavy tailwind during this training and so it was almost impossible to make a good jump. The average distance of the training was with 56.8 meters extremely low. The only jumper who crossed 80 meters was Austria’s Jacqueline Seifriedsberger with a jump on 84.0 meters. Many others crashed on the hill at less then 40 meters. Even world-class jumpers had no chance under this conditions. Daniela Iraschko only jumped 52.5 meters, Sarah Hendrickson even only 49.5.
A second training round was started, but cancelled after seven jumpers. There will be an additional training round tomorrow morning at 9 o’clock.
More interesting then the results of this exceptional training is a look on the start list. Not less than five jumpers are making their international debut in Liberec. Two Czechs, Karolina Indrackova and Martina Joitova, two Norwegians, Maria Hurtado Beisvaag and Anna Odine Stroem, and finally Qi Liu from China. It is also nice to note that only 15 of the 45 jumpers on the start list were also competing at the World Cups last weekend in Ljubno. This shows very well, that the starting field in this aspiring discipline keeps growing and growing.
