Three competitions will be held in Pöhla and Bischofsgrün (GER) from Friday to Sunday.
A new competition series in Ladies Skijumping will be introduced this weekend. The Alpen Cup, the junior series organized by OPA (Organisation of ski federations from Alpine countries), celebrates its birth with a competition in Pöhla on Friday and two competitions in Bischofsgrün on Saturday and Sunday. This new series replaces the Ladies-Cup, that was organized by the Austrian and German Ski Associations as international junior series over the last two years. Already before the introduction of the Ladies Continental Cup in 2004/05 some Alpen Cup competitions were held for Ladies.
It is very nice to note, that the inaugural competitions for this new series will be held at two venues where Ladies Skijumping has a good tradition and where a large number of people support this sports. Pöhla hosts international Ladies competitions already since 2002, Bischofsgrün was part of the Continental Cup series since 2007. Both places have only small jumping hills (HS65 and HS71) and so did not qualify for top-level international competitions anymore.
The two final Alpen Cup competitions of the summer part will be held on August 31stand September 1st in Einsiedeln (SUI).
