Universiade: Katja Pozun won gold

Katja Pozun won in Predazzo ahead of Michaela Dolezelova and Irina Avvakumova.

The Italian area of Val di Fiemme currently hosts the 2013 Universiade, also known as the World University Games. 19 Ladies from 9 countries showed up to fight for medals in the ski jumping competition that was held today on the hill in Predazzo.

Best of them was Katja Pozun from Slovenia, who won the gold medal with a nice pair of jumps of 100.0 and 102.0 meters. Second behind her came Michaela Dolezelova from the Czech Republic with jumps of 102.5 and 96.5 meters. Irina Avvakumova from Russia took the bronze medal with jumps of 96.5 and 101.5 meters.

Places four and five were taken by the Slovenians Eva Logar (95.5 and 94.5 m) and Maja Vtic (93.5 and 95.5 m). Finland’s Julia Kykkänen came sixth with jumps of 97.0 and 92.0 meters.

There is a second chance for the Ladies to win a medal on Tuesday, when a mixed team competition will be held there as well.
