Falun: First Continental Cup win for Nina Lussi

Nina Lussi won the Continental Cup in Falun ahead of Joanna Szwab and Wendy Vuik.

While the center of attention is on the World Cups in Rasnov this weekend, also two Continental Cup competitions are held. Venue for the CoCs is the hill in Falun, where also World Cups will be held in two weeks.

Winner of the first competition on Saturday came Nina Lussi from the United States. She jumped 81.0 and 80.5 meters. This the first CoC-victory in her career. Second behind her came Joanna Szwab with jumps of 83.0 and 77.5 meters. This is the best Polish result ever. Way to go! Third came Wendy Vuik from the Netherlands. She jumped 74.0 and 80 meters and so improved from seven in the second round.

With Magdalena Palasz another Polish came fourth (79.0 and 78.0 m). America’s Nita Englund came fifth (80.0 and 76.0 m). 88.5 meters by Susanna Forsström from Finland were the farthest jump of the day, but as she fell when landing, she got a low score for it. With 77.5 meters in the second round she came eventually sixth.

With her win today Lussi has taken the second place in the overall Continental Cup. She has 218 points and so could take over the lead in the second competition tomorrow, as current leader Juliane Seyfarth (GER, 251 points) competes in the World Cup in Rasnov.
