The official trainings for the Junior World Championships in Val di Fiemme were held today in Predazzo. Maren Lundby and Sara Takanashi performed best.

Right between the World Cups in Planica and Hinzenbach, the Junior World Championships take place this week in Val di Fiemme, Italy. The individual competiton will be held tomorrow, the team event is scheduled for Thursday. Both competitions are held on the K95 hill in Predazzo, that was used already in the last winter for the Nordic World Ski Championships.

Today two official training sessions were held, one in the morning and a second one in the evening. The morning training was not attended by all teams, and so strong jumpers such as Sara Takanashi or Coline Mattel were missing. Best in this training was Norway’s Maren Lundby with jumps of 93.0 and 98.0 meters. Also Anna Rupprecht from Germany showed two far jumps of 94.0 and 97.0 meters. Her team-mate Veronika Zobel jumped 92.0 meters twice. Chiara Hölzl from Austria just missed the 90 meter mark in the first round, when she jumped 89.5 meters, but for her second jump of 94.0 meters she scored the third-most points.

The second training in the evening was held under snowy weather conditions. This time almost all competitors made their jumps. It was no surprise, that World Cup leader Sara Takanashi was best of them. She made jumps of 101.0 and 98.5 meters. Only close behind her was Coline Mattel with jumps of 99.5 and 101.0 meters. Although her second jump was farther as the one of Takanashi, she scored less points for it due to wind and gate compensation. Also Yuki Ito was able to keep pace. She jumped 98.5 and 95.0 meters. Germany’s Kathatina Althaus made jumps of 98.5 and 97.5 meters, but also lost points to wind and gate compensation.
