Two victories for Anna Hafele in Park City

Due to bad weather forecasts for the weekend, both COC-competitions were already held on Friday. German Anna Häfele was able to to win them both and took the lead in the overall Continentalcup.

The weather forecast announced thunderstorms, heavy snow and winds with 30 to 50 km/h for Park City, Utah, were the Continentalcup’s season was opened. Due to that the organizers decided to reschedule the competitions to Friday.

Anna Häfele (GER) won the first competition on Friday afternoon 3.5 points in advance of Lindsey Van (USA) and Jacqueline Seifriedsberger (AUT). After the first round Häfele was third an took herself to the lead with a 89.0 m jump in the second round. It was the first victory in her career, after she already took a second place in Bischofsgrün 2007.

The second competition in the evening was again won by Häfele. Nata de Leeuw (CAN) and Ulrike Grässler (GER), who won the COC’s summer ranking, followed on second and third place. Jumps to 94.0 and 93.0 m were enough for Häfele to win that competition.

In the Continentalcup’s overall ranking Häfele took the first position with 200 points, ahead of Van (120 points) and de Leeuw (116 points).
