Due to bad weather conditions the World Cup in Schonach-Schönwald on Friday is cancelled.
The next competition of the Ladies World Cup, that was planned to be held this Friday (January 6th) in Schonach-Schönwald has been cancelled. Still in the last week there was sufficient snow there, but in the last days the weather conditions became really bad.
“Due to the high temperatures, that come along with rain and stormy gusts, it does not make sense to hold the competition. It should be colder on Wednesday, but then a new windy deep depression is forecast. We tried everything, but it doesn’t help“ said Hans-Georg Schmidt, chairman of the hosting Ski Club Schönwald.
Also the Nordic Combined World Cups that were scheduled for Saturday and Sunday in Schonach are cancelled.
It is also depending on the weather conditions, if the following Ladies World Cup, that is planned to be held in Hinterzarten on Sunday, can be held. The organizers there want to make a decision on Wednesday. Hinterzarten is only about 40 km away from Schonach, but has a higher altitude. If weather conditions are good enough, the Schonach competition might be rescheduled in Hinterzarten.
