Two more victories for Irina Avvakumova in Örnsköldsvik on Saturday and Sunday.
Successful weekend for Irina Avvakumova: The Russian won all three CoC-competitions in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, and so claimed victory of the overall Continental Cup. On Saturday in the afternoon she shared the first place with Julia Kykkänen from Finland, who was equally on points. In the evening an additional competition was held as replacement for one of the cancelled Continental Cups in Notodden. Avvakumova won this competition with a pair of jumps of 96.5 and 96.0 meters. Second behind her came Kykkänen with jumps of 92.5 and 93.0 meters. On the third place came Ramona Straub from Germany with a pair of jumps of 90.0 and 93.5 meters. The ranks four to six were taken by Germany’s Pauline Hessler (90.5 and 89.0 m), Russia’s Anastasiya Gladysheva (91.0 and 88.5 m) and Nita Englund from the United States (89.0 and 88.0 m).

In the competition on Sunday it was a very close battle between Avvakumova and Straub, who came second. Avvakumova jumped 97.5 and 96.5 meters and so finally scored one point more as the German, who jumped 99.5 meters in the first round and was in the lead at half-time, but then made a second jump of only 90.5 meters. Kykkänen jumped 91.0 and 93.0 meters and so came third this time. Gladysheva came fourth (88.5. and 98.5 m), Englund fifth (twice 88.0 m). Sixth in this final competition came Alexandra Kustova from Russia with 86.5 and 86.0 meters.
For these three wins in Örnsköldsvik and for her fourth place in Oberwiesenthal on the last weekend Avvakumova scored 350 points and so won this winter’s overall Continental Cup. Second in this ranking came Kykkänen with 240 points, third is Straub with 230 points.
