The medals were given tonight to Carina Vogt, Daniela Iraschko-Stolz and Coline Mattel.
One day after the historic Ladies Skijumping competition at Olympic Games, Carina Vogt, Daniela Iraschko-Stolz and Coline Mattel received their medals on the Medals Plaza in the center of Sochi Olympic Park. A large crowd of people with the Olympic flame in their back created a very nice atmosphere for this ceremony. The medals were given to the athletes by IOC member Anita DeFrantz from the United States, while FIS-President Gian Franco Kasper awarded flowers to the medalists.
In an interview with German TV station ZDF Vogt said after the ceremony: „The seconds after my second jump, when there was nothing written on the scoreboard were horrible. I was hoping, that my jump was sufficient to stay among the top three and earn a medal. But then suddenly the number ‘1’ lighted up. Actually I cannot realize yet, what I have achieved.”
